Dr. Stephanie P. Chen
Stephanie P. Chen, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, cornea transplantation, and refractive surgery at Altos Eye Physicians. She also serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Backed by an impressive academic record and extensive training, Dr. Chen provides an elevated patient experience with individualized care, attention to detail, and modern practice techniques.
Dr. Chen graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, then earned her Medical Degree from Stanford University School of Medicine before completing her general surgery internship and ophthalmology residency at UCSF. Dr. Chen’s pursuit of excellence continued with subspecialty training in Cornea, External Diseases, and Refractive Surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where she specialized in cataract surgery with premium artificial lens implantation, partial and full-thickness corneal transplantation, pterygium excision, and complex anterior segment and ocular surface reconstruction.
Beyond her academic endeavors, Dr. Chen is known for her compassionate, patient-centric approach. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and proficient in Spanish, she is committed to connecting with her patients on a personal level and making a positive impact on their lives.
A California native, Dr. Chen enjoys cycling, snowboarding, and exploring the natural beauty of the Bay Area and Northern California with her family and friends.
